Vlad’s and Ursa:
With Vlad’s or Leoric’s Vampiric Aura, you Will lifesteal. You will Also gain additional lifesteal from Fury Swipes. If you want info on how much, or why I refer you to this Mathcraft thread: Vlad’s and Fury Swipes
.

Stats:
——–

Str: 23 + 2.9/lvl
Agi: 18 + 2.1/lvl (Primary) (I wish it were Str!)
Int: 16 + 1.5/lvl

Base Ms: 310
Base damage: 45-49 (rather low)
Base Armor: 4.5

Skillz:
———–

IPB Image Earthshock

Ulfsaar Slams the ground, dealing damage to and slowing the movement speed of nearby enemy land units.
Lasts 4 seconds.

Level 1 - 70 damage, 25% slow.
Level 2 - 120 damage, 35% slow.
Level 3 - 170 damage, 45% slow.
Level 4 - 220 damage, 55% slow.

Cooldown: 7 seconds.
Mana Cost: 75 at all levels

AoE on this isn’t too bad. The damage and slow are both Awesome for the low mana cost. It is one of the best slows in the game. Remember: 0.5 second casting time required.

IPB Image Overpower

Sends Ulfsaar into a rage until he can expend his energy on a target. Lasts 15 seconds or 5 attacks.

Level 1 - 100% increased attack speed.
Level 2 - 200% increased attack speed.
Level 3 - 300% increased attack speed.
Level 4 - 400% increased attack speed.

Cooldown: 10 seconds.
Mana Cost: 45/55/65/75

Staple ability. Lasts 15 seconds, cd is 10 seconds….You can ALWAYS have this ability on if you have the mana and time it right. This will net you a few killz. This also is nice, because you don’t need to buy any IAS items. Yay!

IPB Image Fury Swipes

Each attack opens the wound deeper in the target, causing subsequent attacks to deal increased damage.

Level 1 - 6 bonus damage per attack.
Level 2 - 12 bonus damage per attack.
Level 3 - 18 bonus damage per attack.
Level 4 - 24 bonus damage per attack.

Orb effect.

A few Notes about this ability.
1. It is not an orb because it would be imba if it wasn’t, it is an orb because of the skill it is based off of.
2. I ended the previous sentence in a preposition.
3. Nothing will reset the Fury Swipes counter except: #4 or not attacking your target for 3 seconds.
4. Mkb, Basher, Buriza all will PAUSE the Fury Swipes counter when they proc, they will NOT reset the skill.
5. Fury Swipes overrides EVERY SINGLE OTHER ORB IN THE GAME.
6. It will stack with Vampiric Aura, and it WILL lifesteal damage from Fury Swipes.
7. Mathcraft all you want, Fury Swipes = dead target

IPB Image Enrage

When activated, greatly increases Ulfsaar’s damage based on his current life.

Level 1 - 4% of Ulfsaar’s current life is dealt in damage.
Level 2 - 5% of Ulfsaar’s current life is dealt in damage.
Level 3 - 6% of Ulfsaar’s current life is dealt in damage.

Cooldown: 25 seconds.
Mana Cost: None!

This skill is awesome. I’d prefer Max HP, but I’ll take it anyway. It’s got a short cd, costs no mana, and provides a NICE damage boost. The damage boost will NOT be listed, but will still work.

This skill gives Ursa a second attack that hits BEFORE the primary one. It is a melee attack. This means that is will trigger the following: Frost Armor, Melee Damage return from both Blademail (won’t affect Ursa) and Centaur Warchief, Also Damage return from Roshan.

Advice: Do NOT attack Centaur Warchief or Roshan with this ability activated unless you have a deathwish or a shit-ton of HP.

The ONLY skillbuild:
—————————

You can argue all you want, If you want to use Ursa effectively, this is the skillbuild you will use. It is cookiecutter, it could be considered cliche, but it works. I’ve tried Ursa builds without Fury Swipes, I was retarded when I did it. It doesn’t work. It’s nice in theory, but it doesn’t work.

The last level of Overpower is debatable. I normally take it. Some people argue that since the max attack speed is 400% that it isn’t worth it due to your agility and items. So take Overpower at 14 if you want, or if you prefer the stats take those.

I also don’t take enrage at level 6 as I believe the attack speed is necessary. You are a chaser hero that does Burst damage. If you can’t do burst damage you’re just a chaser hero. I say take the attack speed.

Item Build:
————–

I’ve toyed around with item builds on Ursa a lot. There are very few effective builds for Ursa because of the limit Fury Swipes places on him. Ursa however, doesn’t have much trouble farming after about level 6. Since the 6.44 map, Vlad’s is a REALLY good item to get with Ursa.
This Item Build assumes RD, LM, or AP. If you get him in AR Get boots first and tangos. Early boots wins a kill. Otherwise continue with the build.

1. Bracer, Ring of Protection, tangos
2. Boots, Bracer, Basilius
3. Finish Vlads
4. Blink Dagger
5. BoT
6. Heart

This is probably where you will sit item-wise when the game ends, if not, and you don’t know what to get, just mass hearts.

Alternately, A build that I have found that works REALLY well is the following: (assuming long game, or excellent farming)

1. BoT
2. Blink
3. Buriza
4. Vlads
5. Heart
6. Heart

This would be your ideal item situation late game. You’ll have around 4.5k hp. Your damage will be insane. You will honestly be hard pressed to die if you’re still attacking.

Anyway…
Other Possible Items and Why:
1. Battlefury: I’ve toyed with it. It’s great for farming, the + damage is nice, but it doesn’t add to what Ursa needs; Hp. Because of your attack speed you can take out an entire creepwave with Overpower. So you can Push or farm Really fast. In 1 on 1 combat though, it doesn’t add to what Ursa needs, and since Ursa is built for 1 on 1, I honestly don’t really think it’s worth the money.

2. Linken’s Sphere: Spell block good, Stats good, Regen ok. However this item costs WAY too much for the meager benefits it offers. I honestly would prefer the 1000 hp and 11hp/sec regen that a heart offers over this anyday. It also really doesn’t add anything that Ursa needs other than the spell block. And since spellblock can be set off by auto-castables, I just don’t like it.

3. S&Y: I’m up in the air about this item. It’s easy to build, offers decent Hp. But you are basically paying 5000 gold for an additional 10% ms. Now I will say that you will not be outrun by almost anyone. But keep in mind that you don’t get the Maim.

4. Crystalis/Buriza: Since Ursa is now a Melee hero, Scoring a critical hit will not pause the Fury Swipes counter. And since Ursa has some incredible attack speed, you will score atleast 1 crit on whoever your target is. I actually like farming up a quick Crystalis. If you can find somewhere to stick it in your item build without screwing yourself over, do it. It’s worth it. Just make sure you can get Blink and Vlads.

Now the fun part! How to play Ursa through the game!

General Gameplay:
———————–

Stunners will be a pain in the ass for you. Disables suck. Slows will leave you beating the screen in agony. Learn to watch heroes either go SPLAT in 4 seconds, or get away with 5 hp.

Early game:
—————-

Soloing is for them there ranged heroes, so pick yourself a lane partner. Preferably someone with a slow or a stun. Rhasta and Naga are your best friends. Stunners are great too.

Early game is going to be a tad rough, you’re melee, what do you expect? Last hitting and Denying is not too hard with Ursa, but his base damage is low, so keep that in mind.

Basically, Hold position next to a creep until it’s HP bar is relatively low, then attack it. You want to get the very last hit on it. If you just attack creeps, you will get creep kills, but you’ll stay closer to the enemy tower. This is bad because it makes you easier to gank, and you aren’t offered the protection of your own tower.

If you can’t get yourself a Blink and a BoT, you’re going to have a rough game.

If a hero is harassing you, Overpower and run straight at them. No one stands still while Fuzzy attacks them. Unless they are retarded. You’ll get that sometimes. I call it a 100 gold donation to the I <3>

By level 6 or 7, you can take out any of the ancient spawns with little to no difficulty.
(Read: Don’t try the 3 Lizard looking dragons. They have evasion, are gay, and will be difficult. You CAN kill them, but you’ll have to heal afterward. Also, I’ve been killed by them before because I missed 7 attacks in a row when it had 15 hp left. It was retarded.)

If your lane mate has a slow or a stun, you can bag an early kill, or 3. Just Overpower, and run straight at them. Let your Lane-mate worry about slowing or stunning, you just attack.

Also, keep an eye on the runes. Haste = free kill for you. Sometimes a double. Invis = SHIT! I forgot to turn on overpower before getting the rune, surprise now fails.

Mainly: Last Hit, Deny, and be as aggressive as possible without feeding.

Early game heroes to avoid laning against at almost all costs: Zues, Rhasta, or Bane

QUOTE
By Level 8, If you have Vlads, Boots, and a Bracer: GO SOLO ROSHAN. It’ll take you about 30 seconds. You have at least 3/4 of your health when its over, it’s good money for the team and you get an Aegis out of it.

Mid Game:
—————

You should have a blink dagger by now. If you don’t have one, make do, but get it asap. This is where the fun begins. You should find yourself a nice agility or Intel hero with no disable to pick on. We are going to call them “Meat.”

Heroes like Sniper, Early Troll, Razor, Bloodseeker, ect… Are going to be your “meat” of choice.
Learn Patience. You’ll need it.

Activate Overpower First, then Enrage. Try to sneak up behind the hero if you can, you want to save that blink in case you need to get away or to finish them off.
Charge in and attack them. Most of the time you can kill them before they know what’s happening. If you can’t sneak behind them, just blink next to them and attack them.

If you have Earthshock. You need to practice this: Blink + E. Blink in first, as soon as you blink hit E. Then attack them.

OR, Attack first, when they start to run, Earthshock. This buys you a few more hits. The choice is up to you. You’ll need leet blink skillz to net some killz though. That is the biggest thing to work on.

Either way, farm in your lane until you see the opportunity to gank. If you even smell the opportunity, take it. Learn to be aggressive with Ursa. Not Greedy, but aggressive.

If you find yourself on the receiving end of a gank, don’t panic. Activate Overpower and Enrage, then attack one. You’ll find they back off if one of their own goes down too fast.

Also, if you think you’re going to die. Earthshock, then blink away. This prevents them from dashing after you.

The most important thing for you right now though is, gank hard. You are a one Furbolg demolition squad. You can and will be killing people. Overpower costs 55 mana, Earthshock 75, and blink is 90. So a grand total of 220 mana for a kill. Not bad. This means you can do it 2-4 times before you have to head on back to the fountain for a bit.

Late Game:
—————

By now, you should be a veritable Monster. There won’t be many heroes that will stand toe-to-toe with a farmed Ursa. However, don’t totally throw caution to the wind. You can still die.

During team ganks, you do not normally initiate. Wait till both sides start to fight, then blink in, Earthshock and go after your “meat.” Ursa was made for the Hit and Run style of fighting. Guerrilla Warfare.

However, with your Heart(s) you can Also play the team tank if necessary. Also, just attacking someone is never a bad idea. You’re always a few seconds away from another Overpower.

It’s preferable sometimes to be a martyr. Because Ursa can take out a hero so fast, it may be up to you to take out their carry hero asap. Even if it means dying. During team fights, there is normally a lot of confusion. Take advantage of this. Blink in ready to go, Earthshock and just proceed to tear a new one in the hero on their side that is the biggest threat. Most times, you can kill them or take them low enough where they won’t continue the charge.

Notes On Ursa:
——————

Always a fun hero to play. Difficult when faced with a lot of disablers. In fact, if 3/5 heroes on the other team have a disable, I would recommend against picking Ursa. Unless their skill is somewhat low…
Either farm early, or gank a lot. Either way you need some cash for a Blink dagger. If you can get a blink dagger, you’ll be able to net kills.

Also, If you are being chased, and both of you are low hp, don’t keep running. Run until you have Overpower ready, then turn it on, turn around, and attack your chaser.
You have no idea how many times I’ve killed a Bloodseeker who was chasing me this way.

Ursa HAS to be aggressive to do well. Just think things through. Don’t be greedy, but be on the Offense. He has a lot of potential, and needs a good outlet.
